ACAW 2011 (March 21 – 31)

Introduction

In an ongoing effort to heighten public awareness about contemporary art discourses in Asia, each ACAW edition brings together artists, curators, scholars, critics, galleries, museums, and arts organizations for an in-depth examination of current art practices. Through these collaborations and by building a diverse network of individuals and collectives engaged in the field, ACAW produces public programs that offer insight from multiple perspectives about local, regional, and international art scenes while highlighting both significant artists and arts organizations.

In addition to numerous exhibitions at galleries and museums around town, ACAW 2011 presents Dialogues in Asian Contemporary Art, a series of discussions with more than 25 specially invited leading artists and professionals in the field. Over the course of the week, the Dialogues will strive to disseminate broader, more thorough knowledge of art communities and artists’ activities within and outside of Asia.Events are scheduled over ten days, with each evening devoted to either a specific district of New York City for exhibition openings or to a round of Dialogues. Please see the schedule for a complete list of events and refer to the website www.acaw.info for updates.
